Coltraco Ultrasonics’ CEO Carl Stephen Patrick Hunter attends the launch of Maritime 2050 – the new UK maritime strategy – at the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) headquarters, London, Thursday 24th January 2019.

Leading the launch were the leading lights of the marine industry in the UK including the IMO Secretary-General, Kitack Lim; UK Secretary of State for Transport, Chris Grayling; UK Minister for Shipping, Nusrat Ghani MP and the main UK marine associations led by MaritimeUK.

CEO Carl Stephen Patrick Hunter says:
“This is a special day. The UK is a global maritime nation. Maritime 2050 is the UK’s first 30 year strategy recognising the essential role of the UK maritime sector in the global economy and the lead role of the UK in the International Maritime Organisation.

“It places our maritime sector at the centre of who we are as a nation and our nation’s key role in upholding the rules-based international order. I warmly congratulate the dynamism and professionalism of the fine Civil Servants and Ministers at the Department for Transport, and the UK maritime Expert Panel  for producing the highest strategic thought I have seen in my 25 year career in UK maritime. It complements the UK Government’s Export, Industrial and Environment Strategies in 2018 and together these combine to powerful intent and implementation of our defining Global Britain strategy.

“I am grateful that our company, as an 89% exporting manufacturer, was able to modestly contribute the essential importance of rule of law and values of integrity to the UK’s place in the world in consultation to the magnificent policy set out so clearly in Maritime 2050.”

  • Maritime 2050 is about anticipating the challenges and opportunities ahead and recognising the UK’s strengths so we are well placed to capitalise on them.
  • 7 key themes: 1. UK competitive advantage, 2. Technology, 3. People, 4. Environment, 4. Infrastructure, 5. Trade, 6. Security
  • Underpinning our work is a set of five core values for UK maritime: ● A premium brand, not compromising on safety ● A balanced set of priorities ● A commitment to the rules-based approach ● A truly global United Kingdom ● Real partnership between government and industry
  • Our strategy coalesces around a set of 10 core strategic ambitions. These ambitions provide, in their simplest form, our bold and aspirational objectives as we head towards and beyond the second half of the 21st century.
